Create your urban jungle

Houseplants bring life to any room in the house. Plus, plants are good for your health, both physical and mental. It’s a well-known fact that living surrounded by plants not only improves the quality of the air we breathe, but also increases happiness and reduces stress and anxiety. Why go without? If you want to adopt plants without going wrong, opt for varieties that are easy to grow and maintain. Here are our top 10:

1. ZZ plant

Tolerates all types of lighting. Can withstand several weeks without water; wait until the soil is dry before watering.

2. Sansevieria or snake plant

Gets its name from its large, slender, pointed leaves. It can withstand low light as well as intense light, requires little watering and even tolerates drafts.

3. Spider plant

A classic. The spider plant grows quickly and produces runners that you can easily replant. It likes humidity: spray the leaves as needed.

4. Yucca

Yucca's pointed leaves grow in rosettes at the end of a long trunk. Yucca tolerates dry environments and prefers to be a little tight in its pot.

5. Monstera

It is appreciated for its large, even majestic leaves with holes that are very decorative. Avoid overwatering, but spray the leaves to produce moisture.

6. Pothos

Pothos is a timeless and easy plant that can be climbed on a stake or placed in a hanging pot. Its beautiful heart-shaped leaves are either solid green or variegated. If the light is lower, go for the green ones.

7. Agave

If you have a contemporary decor with very clean lines, this is the plant for you. It is slow growing and tolerates very dry areas. Avoid overwatering and you'll be sure to have success. Beware, its pointed leaves are prickly!

8. Peace Lily

This year-round flowering plant lets you know when it's time to water it: its leaves droop. Among the champions of depolluting plants, but beware, it is toxic.

9. Anthurium

We love the anthurium for its beautiful, brilliant flowers that last a very long time. It tolerates low light, but will bloom little. It likes to be cramped in its pot.
